Dad's Egg-in-Toast
Buttery toast, runny egg, and ready in 10 minutes. Dad's Egg-in-Toast (or Egg in a Hole) breakfast is hard to beat!
Cook Time 10 minutes mins
- 2 slices of bread
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 eggs
- Sprinkle salt and pepper
Preheat a medium/large skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter in the skillet.
While the butter melts, tear a hole in the center of the bread slices. Hole should be big enough for an egg to fit (see photo above).
Place the toast (and the center circles) in the skillet to let toast in the butter for about 3 minutes. Carefully crack the egg into the center of the hole. Repeat for second slice of toast.
Once the egg is partially cooked (about 2 minutes), use a spatula flip each piece of toast over being careful to not puncture the yolk. Flip the center circles as well. Let cook for another 2-3 minutes, until all the egg white is cooked but the yolk is still runny. Enjoy!
