Dad's Egg-in-Toast

Buttery toast, runny egg, and ready in 10 minutes. Dad's Egg-in-Toast (or Egg in a Hole) breakfast is hard to beat!
Cook Time 10 minutes
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat a medium/large skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter in the skillet.
  • While the butter melts, tear a hole in the center of the bread slices. Hole should be big enough for an egg to fit (see photo above).
  • Place the toast (and the center circles) in the skillet to let toast in the butter for about 3 minutes. Carefully crack the egg into the center of the hole. Repeat for second slice of toast.
  • Once the egg is partially cooked (about 2 minutes), use a spatula flip each piece of toast over being careful to not puncture the yolk. Flip the center circles as well. Let cook for another 2-3 minutes, until all the egg white is cooked but the yolk is still runny. Enjoy!
